First Session: The 10 Minute Triage
Have your past experiences managing change been less successful than anticipated? Has it been difficult to convince your senior leadership that a disciplined approach to planning and implementing change is necessary? Have you lost credibility in your role as a change agent? If you answered yes to any of these questions enroll today in the Managing Change Successfully in 2010 free virtual seminar series. When you enroll in the seminar series we will immediately e-mail you the first tutorial -- The 10 Minute Triage -- which includes a Triage Checklist and a prescription of information and resources you can use to assess your organization’s readiness to improve the way changes are implemented.
Once enrolled, you will receive additional tutorials in the seminar series on a regular basis. In each of the tutorials we will focus on obstacles and challenges change agents experience in their work – all highlighted in The 10 Minute Triage. In each tutorial we will present a Case Study showing you how the LaMarsh & Associates Managed Change™ framework and tools can help you achieve the results your leadership expects from the changes you manage. We will draw upon our 30 years of experience working with clients trying to manage change effectively and our observations and insights as to why changes fail.
To supplement the tutorials, LaMarsh & Associates consultants will host a monthly Change Agent Chat during which we will dialogue with you and others enrolled in the Managing Change Successfully in 2010 seminar series. We will share our client experiences and encourage you to discuss the challenges and achievements you are experiencing. The Change Agent Chats are scheduled from 8:00-9:00 a.m. Central Time on the 21st of April, May, June and July. When you enroll in the seminar series you will receive an Outlook Meeting Notice you can add to your personal calendar.

The Eight Most Important Tools in Your Change Management Tool Box
What do you need to make change happen successfully?...to address the needs of the people impacted by your change project? Data……data about their concerns and issues so that the strategic and tactical plans you develop will address their needs effectively and efficiently. Knowing exactly what data to gather, how to collect it and what to do with that data once collected is at the core of effective change management. The LaMarsh & Associates Managed Change™ Field Guides are a core component of our proven change management approach and we are pleased to offer them to you.
Each guide includes a specific tool for data collection and techniques for analysis that leads to effective development of the Change Management Strategy. The following Managed Change™ Field Guides can be used as a complete set for comprehensive data collection over the range of potential resistance sources or can stand alone as supplements to other change management approaches.
Current State Analysis
A process for determining if there is a sufficient business case in the data to satisfy the understanding of the people impacted that change is necessary.
Desired State Design
A process to ensure a common, shared understanding of the future among the leadership and the people impacted.
Delta Dip Assessment
An assessment of the potential impact of a decrease (dip) in critical measurements that could occur as the change is implemented and the impact of that dip on the leadership and people impacted by the change.
Key Role Map Assessment
Identification and assessment of all Target populations and Sponsors to ensure that the people impacted get the attention necessary to successfully change.
Multiple Change Impact Assessment
This assessment provides a comprehensive and integrated picture of the multiple changes demanding the attention and energy of the Target populations and the impact of those multiple changes on your change project.
History Audit
An analysis of the way previous changes were perceived and the conclusions people draw about the organization’s capability to make the current change happen successfully.
Culture Audit
A comparison of the beliefs and behaviors in the Current State and those required in the Desired State and the degree of change in the Culture required.
Resistance Analysis: the InfoMatrix
The Resistance Analysis tool, the InfoMatrix or Resistance Matrix, is the repository for all of the resistance data for each Target or Target group impacted by the change. The InfoMatrix is the key source for data in determining the focus of each resistance mitigation solution.

The Downsizing Dilemma
The amount of downsizing continuing to occur has triggered a strong need to address this business requirement from a change management perspective. In addition to working directly with several clients to build a change management strategy into this difficult change, we have made available two opportunities for you to access our thinking and experience in this difficult change.
Jeanenne LaMarsh, our Founder and CEO, recently made a presentation to the America Society of Quality (ASQ) World Conference on Quality: The Role of Change Management as Downsizing Affects Your Organization. If you are a member of ASQ, the audio and accompanying PowerPoint presentation is available to you at http://wcqi.asq.org/presentations. If you are not a member but are interested in the presentation, contact Lew Lash at LaMarsh & Associates: llash@lamarsh.com.
On this same topic, Ms LaMarsh has written an article entitled How Companies Reduce the Downside of Downsizing to be published in the November-December 2009 issue of the magazine "Global Business and Organizational Excellence", Volume 28. Issue 7.
Change Management as an Integral Part of Project Management
In recent years, we have observed that many of our new Managed ChangeTM "learners" have strong backgrounds in project management. In fact, many of you are certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI) in the PMBOK® Guide. Because Managed ChangeTM is such a strong complement to the project management discipline and activities, PMI has certified LaMarsh & Associates and has begun awarding 14 PDU (Professional Development Unit) credits to our learners for completing the Managed ChangeTM Workshop Program. This award can be retroactive. If you are a member of PMI and want to receive your PDU credits from PMI for successfully completing the Managed ChangeTM Workshop you have taken in the past, please contact nsturznick@lamarsh.com for further instructions.
